. Utilizing nursing diagnosis and therapeutic taxonomies advances nursing knowledge by identifying and selecting evidence-based interventions. Nursing diagnosis are obtained by seeking patterns and behaviors with the best interest of the patient. The nurse identifies the nursing diagnosis and then implements the changes. The nursing profession has and continues to improve based on research and evidence-based practice. We are consistently evaluating our interventions so we can have the best patient outcomes possible. Nursing continues to progress due to advances in medicine, technology, and cost containment. According to Alligood (2018) new problems will continue to arise and we have to adapt a new way of thinking as change is inevitable. “The availability of good-quality evidence and the synthesis of research findings to inform best nursing practices and decisionmaking are needed to support the evolving complexity of nursing practice including the growing barriers they face worldwide in delivering care to diverse and complex populations” (Correa-de-Araujo, 2016, p.16).
